Biography
Gian Luca Marcialis is associate professor of computer engineering at University of Cagliari (Italy), and founder and leader of the PRA Lab’s Biometric Unit.
Prof. Marcialis co-authored more than one hundred-fifty papers on biometric recognition, presentation attack detection, recognition in forensics, with leading figures of the statistical and structural pattern recognition community.
The Biometric Unit also maintains a strong connection with national and international institutions and private and public companies to provide the technological transfer of scientific innovation to their products on the market.
He has (co-)chaired the eighth editions International Fingerprint Liveness Detection Competition since 2009 (http://livdet.diee.unica.it
Marcialis is co-PI, has been included in the top 100 wide-world list of projects solving problems related to the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals by the International Research Center on Artificial Intelligence under the auspices of UNESCO (https://ircai.org/global-top-100-outstanding-projects/results/
