The second edition of IFOSS will aim to provide both an objective and clear overview and an in-depth analysis of the state-of-the-art research as well as the professional best practices in Forensics and related fields. The courses will be delivered by world renowned experts, from either academia, law enforces and industry covering both theoretical and practical aspects of real Forensics problems. The school will aim to provide a stimulating opportunity for professionals and young researchers, as well as Ph.D. students. The participants will benefit from direct interaction and discussions with world leaders in their specific fields.
After the big success of the first edition with about 50 attendees from all over the world, also this year we will focus on Digital Forensics, Law with specific emphasis on Artificial Intelligence revolution. This year we will focus on Digitalisation and forensic data science: from evidence acquisition to interpretation.

Welcome to the International Summer School on Forensics (IFOSS 2023)! The school will take place at Sampieri, Sicily (School location: https://www.hotelbaiasamuele.it/en/ ) from July 18th to 22th 2022.
The second edition of IFOSS aims to provide both an objective and clear overview and an in-depth analysis of the state-of-the-art research as well as the professional best practices in Forensics and related fields. The courses will be delivered by world renowned experts, from either academia, law enforces and industry, and will cover both theoretical and practical aspects of real Forensics problems. The school aims to provide a stimulating opportunity for professionals and young researchers, as well as Ph.D. students. The participants will benefit from direct interaction and discussions with world leaders in their specific fields.
The theme of the summer school will be focused on recent results and best practices covering three main pillars:
The school will be open to qualified, motivated and pre-selected candidates.
Master Students, Ph. D. students, Post-Docs, young researchers (both academic and industrial), senior researchers (both academic and industrial) or academic/industrial professionals are encouraged to apply (a confirmation email will be sent to you).
The expected school fee will be in the order of € 550 for Master and Phd students granted by academia, € 600 for other academic positions and € 700 for industrial. Reduced Fee will be reserved to LEAs, private lawyer and practitioners € 400. The fee will include all course materials, coffee breaks, bus service from Catania Airport to School Location and return, WiFi Internet Connection, a guided tour, a social dinner and all the events scheduled in the programme.
A certain number of fellowships will be available soon depending on sponsorship income.
Applications to attend IFOSS 2023 should be received before 07/05. Deadline extended until 25/05.
Applicants will receive notification of acceptance by mid of May.
Late registration can be done with an extra payment of € 100.
IFOSS participants will be hosted at Hotel Village Baia Samuele (school location) at very special rates. IFOSS participants must make reservations for accommodation, using the accommodation reservation form (here).
More information will be announced as soon as possible on the web site. Depending on chosens settings (Single, Double, Triple or Quadruple Room) the overall cost enclosing Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner should span in the range (600-1000 euros) in the period 16(in) to 22 (out) July 2023.
Please note that no other accommodation options are available.
Summer Schools offer participants the possibility of being assessed for the purpose of requesting official credit transfers (ECTS). Upon conclusion of the Summer School, assessments will be graded, and transcripts sent to participants in a timely manner. It will be the responsibility of the students to contact the Registrar/Academic Secretary/Study Abroad Office of their home institutions to check how the hours completed and the grades obtained can be transferred into official credits.
