Biography

He is a computer engineer and has a PhD cum laude in Computer Engineering from Politecnico di Milano. He has written books and scientific publications and spent several years working in Silicon Valley, CA, as a computer engineer at InVision Technologies Inc. Dr Trivilini is a lecturer and researcher at the Department of Innovative Technologies (DTI) of the University of Applied Sciences of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI). In 2011, with the support of Dipartimento delle Istituzioni (department of institutions), the Police, and the Court in Canton of Ticino, he created the Digital Forensics Service, which today is under his leadership. In 2019, the Service was chosen by the Federal Supreme Court of Switzerland as a scientific partner to help in the field of Computer Forensics. In May 2009, Dr Trivilini received the special research award “Carlo Cattaneo” from the Italian-Swiss association Associazione Carlo Cattaneo, that acknowledged his results in promoting a conscious, safe, and legal use of new technologies. In January 2017, the State Secretariat for Education, Research, and Innovation (SERI) appointed him to represent Switzerland within the management committee of the intragovernmental program for European cooperation in the field of scientific and technical research, where he is a leader in the study and sharing of scientific knowledge as regards digital traces (fingerprint and face recognition). Dr Trivilini has successfully launched several digital literacy projects, among which the first card game addressing the topic of prevention on the Internet, called SOOGOI®. In January 2019, he took part to the Caspian Week Conference during the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, an event where visionaries from all over the world share ideas about topics that interest stakeholders at a global strategic level. In February 2020, the government of Canton of Ticino (Consiglio di Stato del Cantone Ticino) appointed him as a member of the strategic group the Canton of Ticino refers to for cybersecurity. Passionate about sports, Dr Trivilini played water polo in the premier division and the Swiss national team. For almost thirty years, he has been a volunteer firefighter.
