Biography

Stefano Marrone is a Research Fellow and Assistant Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology of the University of Naples Federico II. He has a Ph.D. in Information Technology and Electrical Engineering, with a thesis built around the concept of Trusworty AI. His research topics are within the sphere of Pattern Recognition, Computer Vision and Natural Language Processing, with applications ranging from biomedical image processing to remote sensing and image/video forensics. In the last few years, Stefano has also been working on ethics, fairness and privacy in AI, authoring papers and leading international projects and initiatives on the topic, in collaboration with international and national companies, universities and certification authorities. He is a member of the scientific committee for the Human-Centred Artificial Intelligence Masters (HCAIM), funded by the European Commission under the INEA/CEF program, engaging different European Universities, SMEs and learning research centres. He authored more than original 50 peer-reviewed papers published in international journals and in the proceeding of international conferences, also serving as chair and as guest editor.
