Multimedia Forensics: Recent Trend and Challenges

Multimedia Forensics aims to ensure origin and authenticity of images, videos, and audio documents. Early methods made the central assumption that the document under investigation is a physical measurement that underwent limited postprocessing. However, this assumption is challenged by recent developments in computational imaging, generative artificial intelligence, and advanced compression technologies. In this talk, we highlight the forensic challenges that come with these developments, and outline possible paths forward to maintain a set of forensic tools under these new constraints.
